Bisa Butler is a famous artist that is known for quilted portraits that celebrate the Black experience. Bisa has received critical acclaim for her work. From the choice of textiles, to the subtle details that convey a deep message, Bisa is building a legacy, one piece of art at a time. Touching on themes such as family, struggle, community, and loss, she brings an array of emotions to her work. She has been featured in places such as the Smithsonian Museum of American History, the Epcot Center, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, however this is her first solo museum exhibition. Monet is an artist whose career is intertwined with Chicago. From the time his paintings were seen at the Inter-State Industrial Exposition in Chicago, it didn't take long for the buzz to begin. Over the years, many collectors, both local and international, began to chase after Monet's work. In celebration of this great artist and his roots to Chicago, the Art Institute explores his connection to this great city.   Admission to this exhibit will require the purchase of a $7 ticket in addition to general admission.
